School in the middle of summer...NOT COOL!

This will probably be a shorter post but school was pretty typical I'm freaking out about two tests I have tomorrow and Friday that I think are going to be really hard. We had our test in the Polynesian dance class and I think it went really well luckily! I kept my thumbs in and smiled and didn't forget any of the steps so I should be okay, but probably because I think I'm okayI failed it. That's usually how tests work. After school I made myself some ramen noodles. Yep typical college food but I wasn't going through that whole chicken thing again like yesterday! Then I studied and wrote a paper for five hours. I was a little burnt out on sitting at my desk so I decided to read outside. I lucked out when it came to dinner though because  then was walking back into my dorm I ran into a guy I had met the other day. His friend started talking about how he was cooking dinner for these girls named Maddie&Crystal which were my roommates! When I told him he was like oh you should come too. I thought he was just being nice so i didn't really plan on going.  After that there was free mini golf on campus so I walked down there and played put put for just a bit. On my way back up I ran into that guy that invited me over for dinner and he said "hey see you in a few minutes" so I guess he was serious about going over there with my roommates. I realized I was going over there and I didn't even know this kids name. Oh well, I didn't have to cook and I always have fun with Maddie and Crystal so that's all that mattered. It was fun and I am glad I went with them but now I have to study a bit more for my test tomorrow...too much studying in one day. The first thing I learned today is that procrastination on schoolwork used to pretty much be  a talent I had, but it is soooo much easier to just get things done early. Second is I am really bad a mini golf. And third is really value your parents while they are still around (not that I didn't before) but because once you are on your own, you miss them a lot.

A day in the life of Alexis

Today I started off my day with my strengthening marriage and family class I got stuck taking where we very oddly talked about intimacy within marriage for a good hour of the class. Since I am not married and do not plan on getting married for at least a few years it was very awkward to sit there in a class of mostly married people and listen to it. Right after class I headed to the library to study but ran into my friend Nicole who asked me if I was headed to the devotional they hold every Tuesday. I was now! I had totally forgotten about it but I’m glad I went because it turned out to be pretty good and we sat there and ate delicious bagels during it too. After the rest of my classes I biked up a massive hill to get home (I might stick to walking the other path to my classes). At home I made my first attempt to make chicken for dinner. Total failure. I tried cooking the chicken in a pan and didn’t want to fry it with cooking oil (plus that’s not even an option since I don’t have any ha). So I put a tiny bit of water in the pan and a few drops of lemon juice for flavor. Of course when closing the lid on the lemon juice it squirted some right in my eye and i thought it was on fire. The bottles really should come with a warning label. The chicken looked SO nasty when i cooked it but it tasted okay so i ate it anyway. Hey I'm a poor college kid, I can't afford to be wasting my food! After dinner Nicole and I went to meet our friend Aaron and some of her roommates. With nothing better to do we printed out a bright orange sheet of paper and made them into wristbands to match the EFY kids that are here. Out back of the cannon center they were having a huge dance and we slipped right in (we can totally pull it off because some of the EFY kids definitely look older than we do). It was a lot of fun until and EFY counselor made me and this 14 year old boy dance. I felt like SUCH a creeper. Of course I got paired up to dance with one of the youngest kids there. When they announced the last dance we ripped off our bracelets and strolled away casually like nothing happened. After we went to this ice cream place called Sub-Zero. If you haven't been I suggest you go! You tell them what ingreidents and flavorings to put in the bowl and then right there they freeze it in liquid nitrogen that is -321 below zero, and it was delicious! Okay, so the thing I have learned today is first a raw chicken breast feels really weird plus i need to find a better way to cook it and second, EFY seems like it would've been really fun, I wish I would have had the opportunity to go!

The begining of many mondays...

Today I started off the same as most of my days meaning I always seem to end up only having 10 min from when I leave my dorm to speed walk as fast as my stubby legs will go to get to PD Bio on time. I tried waking up 15 min earlier today so that exact thing wouldnt happen but that failed. After many many many notes in my first two classes I was happy to get to my dance class (i suggest taking one if you ever get the chance theyre so fun!) There we are learning Eia No Kawika which is pretty complicated but really fun. And even though I am not a dancer I am definitely not the worst one in the class! It must be in my blood (:  I was very proud of myself for coming right home after and getting all my papers and readings done, because I usually find some way to procrastinate. Tonight we went to one of the bishopric memebers homes for family home evening with our group and what i though was going to be awkward for the ten of us was actually really fun! Our FHE guys actually showed up which surprised us! Last sunday we made them cookies and brought them to their room and the very next day one guy came to family home evening...ONE. Last time they're getting cookies! Anyway they came tonight and we had lots of fun playing some ultimate frisbee (if thats how you spell it?) and eating lots and lots of food. We didnt know that they were going to feed us dinner so Crystal made us tacos for dinner (which were delicious) but we felt bad that they prepared all this food so we ate until we felt sick and then decided to run around playing ultimate frisbee (BAD IDEA). I am going to steal a fellow blogger (April)  idea of putting one thing I learned each day at the end of my post. Today I learned not to eat, then over-eat, then run around a bunch and then make a s'more. Although my stomach isn't so happy with me, I had a good time and was glad that more than one of our fhe guys showed up tonight!

Ahhhhh....

Every day you get to start off by sleeping in a little is a good day, and today was no different. After getting ready and my bowl of corn chex, me and my roommates headed off to church. It is still weird going to church with a bunch of kids my age. Not to mention how dead silent sacrament meeting is with no little kids! I was just thankful that the callings of relief society president and sunday school teachers were filled, because thats too much stress for me right now. After church and a building "floor meeting" we cooked up (well April cooked while I ate the left overs out of the bowl) scrum-didly-umptious rice krispie treats. Theyre one of my all time favorites. We were making treats for our "treat swap" where a random room of guys from the other building are assigned to come over and eat treats. I personally am interested to see what the guys try to bring for their turn next week! We did have some random guys come by and give us cookies but we were a  little skeptical of  if they actually made them or just re-gifted them? Pretty much all I did today was chill and eat...clearly since half of this is about food. Today I do miss home pretty bad though. I especially miss Karli, Drewbert, and Connor and how happy I am when I am around them at home. They are always making me laugh whether it is Karli's jokes that are so bad we cant help but crack up, or Drews whitty sense of humor, or Connor and his rapping videos. I knew I would miss them but it hurts more than i thought it would. I love you guys and I hope you don't forget it for a second while I am gone.

Finally Saturday...

Thankfully my day started off with NO EARLY CLASSES so I got to sleep in! Then Dakota, Emily, April, Maddie, and Crystal (my roommates) piled into Emily's car to costco. We were supposed to go yesterday but Wilma (my car) died. I knew it would only be a matter of time before I was on my own that my car would breakdown and take from my poor college kid pocket! I was proud that I was able to remove the battery all by my big girl self...well with the help of my roommates holding up the hood of my car while I did. After our crazy trip to costco we went to the pool which was freezing because they decide its necessary to put a giant fan right next to the pool? Plus when we tried to get foam weights for water aerobics apparently their "only for the aqua-aerobics classes" so we stuck with the noodles.  Although we did go off the high jump while the grumpy lifeguard watched. Life guards never smile. We decided that while we were there. After coming home and reading forever about marriage for class it was freshman bowling night!! I managed somehow to win but wasn't so fortunate when it came to the pushup contest. The winner got 93 and i got a whopping....20. I'm going to need to work on that...or I will just sit here and eat my pot pie instead (:
